The full release of FIFA 19 is just around the corner, with hype ramping up about this season’s EA Sports offering.
We’ve already done a very thorough job of explaining everything you need to know about the new game, but here’s a few pointers for we here at Dream Team are looking forward to the most about the new edition.
1 Stat TrackerYes. Please. It’s been a long time coming, too.
What is stat tracker? Well, put simply, it will tell you which of your mates you’ve battered time and time again.
It will let you see everything from the number of wins to your pass completion percentage, meaning everything you do on the game counts.
Remember how good Lounge Mode was, when you could see who was the king amongst your mates? It’s basically that, and we are very much here for it. So long as we play against our mates who don’t play the game very often so we can stat-pad.
THESE ARE THE CHEAPEST PLACES TO BUY FIFA 19 – PICK IT UP HERE:
FIFA 19 at GAME – from £54.99 – pre-order now FIFA 19 at Amazon – from £54.99 – pre-order now 2 No Rules modeNo-one likes referees in football, so why don’t we just bin them off and go back garden rules?
There will be a no rules mode, which means that anything goes. Reducers when the other team is through on goal with no punishment? Deliberately goal hanging as there’s no offsides? Thank you, EA Sports, for putting in a mode we can all get behind.
3 ‘Survival’ modeDon’t call it Battle Royale, even though it basically is.
Survival mode will really level the playing field for most gamers – if you score a goal, you lose a player. Simple rules, right?
If you score five goals in the 90 minutes, you automatically win the game, and we’d put good money on there being a raft of ‘5-4 LAST MINUTE ¦ SURVIVAL MODE GOAL ¦ INSANE’ YouTube videos uploaded in a couple of weeks time.
4 Headers and Volleys ModeAnother old school classic dropping from the FIFA lads!
With No Rules and Headers and Volleys, it’s as if they’ve gained a lot of inspiration of when you used to play football with your mates round the back of a local town hall.
Headers and Volleys will mean you can only score with a header or volley (strange, that), which will please both the ambitious gamers and long-ball merchants alike.
5 The Journey’s finaleWe’ve gone a bit more in depth about the third in the trilogy of The Journey, which has been a vastly popular game mode in the past two years.
How will it end for Alex Hunter? Will they keep it true to life for most players, where he either returns to a former club in an emotional but altogether quite unsatisfying return? Will he put on a few pounds and not look the player he once was? Or will he, and I suspect this might be the case, be in line to be the hero in the Champions League?
That reminds us…
6 The ChaaaaaaampionsThe Champions League is here! On FIFA! Like, the best club tournament in world!
Not only will the game mode have the official match presentation, the archetypal Champions League feel to the games, it also comes with Derek Rae and Lee Dixon in the commentary box. Lovely, lovely stuff.
7 ICONSWe all live in a Georgie Best world, so went the song from long ago.
Now, the Northern Irish legend is in the game, alongside your Johan Cruyffs, your Eusebios, your Rivaldos.
